Vienna - Austria
This is the second part of Vienna photos.
The Heroes' Square (Heldenplatz) is a square in front of the Hofburg Palace. The palace is where the president of Austria and the federal chancellery reside. The president stays in the Hofburg wing, while the chancellery stays on the adjacent Ballhausplatz. In front of the palace there is an extensive lawn, together with a statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy.

Inside the Hofburg Palace, in the Imperial Apartments, is located the Sisi Museum. It is dedicated to the former Queen of Hungary, Empress Elisabeth of Austria and contains the Silver Collection, the Sisi exhibition and other attractions. Below among the photos we can see a recreation of the wagon that Sisi used for travels, her bedroom and living room.

The Maria-Theresien-Platz is a square that joins the Museumsquartier, a block full os museums. At both sides of the square are two big museums, the Museum of Art History (Kunsthistorisches Museum) and the Museum of Natural History (Naturhistorisches Museum).

In the center of Wien is located the St. Stephen’s Cathedral (Stephansdom), the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna and the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna. This huge cathedral has Romanesque and Gothic traits and has three building stages. It is possible to visit its north and south towers, the treasure collection and the catacombs.

Among the two towers of the cathedral, the North Tower is the highest one, with 343 steps, measuring 137 m high. The North Tower provides a panoramic view around entire Vienna. The South Tower is better for looking the main square close to the cathedral and its roof, which was built with more than 250.000 vitrified tiles.
