Tipón - Peru
Tipón is an archaeological site featuring agricultural terraces built during the Inca Empire, located in the Peruvian community of Choquepata, just 37 minutes from Cusco. It sits at an altitude of 3,316 meters.
With 13 large terraces, each one has a carved stone drainage channel at its base to capture excess water from rainfall. The complex is a true marvel of Inca period engineering!
The site boasts a complex water supply and distribution system through both surface and underground channels, making it the only one from this period still functioning to this day. The system is fed by rainwater and springs from the Pukara River.
