Dresden - Germany

Dresden is the capital of the state of Saxony, located in eastern Germany. The city is divided in half by the Elbe river and its two regions are quite distinct. Altstadt (Old Town in German), the southern district, was destroyed by massive aerial bombing during World War II and rebuilt between 1994 and 2005.

Nowadays Dresden is one of the most visited cities in Germany, with 4.7 million overnight stays per year. Since the 90s Dresden has become a cultural, educational and political centre of Germany. Its Dresden University of Technology is one of the 10 largest universities in the country.
