Cusco - Peru
Cusco is a city in southeastern Peru near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range. It is the capital of the Cusco Region and of the Cusco Province. The city is located at an elevation of 3,400 m height.
It was the capital of the Inca Empire from the 13th century until the 16th century. In 1983, Cusco was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and became the Historical Capital of Peru.
Currently, Cusco is the most important tourist destination in Peru, serving as a base for numerous tours and historical attractions throughout the entire region.
The city is filled with inns and hotels. I had the privilege of staying in this super cozy place.
Plaza de Armas is the central core of Cusco. During the Inca Empire, the place was transformed into the administrative, religious and cultural center of the imperial capital.
Nowadays, it is surrounded by tourist restaurants, jewelry stores, travel agencies and two main monuments of the city: the Cathedral of Cusco and the Iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús (Church of the Society of Jesus).
Spread throughout the city, you can also find women in traditional dresses and alpacas
And finally, some photos of the city at sunset, when it is illuminated but does not lose its shine.
