Brocken - Germany
The Brocken, also sometimes referred to as the Blocksberg, is the highest peak of the Harz mountain range, located in the Harz National Park. It is also the highest peak of Northern Germany; located near the village Schierke in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt, between the rivers Weser and Elbe.
With elevation of 1,141 m high, its microclimate resembles that of mountains of about 2,000 m, with snow covering the peak for 9 months and mist and fog shrouding it up to 300 days of the year.
I had an unforgettable hiking in this peak, through 16 km, round trip. At the top of Brocken there is a restaurant with shelter from the cold, but unfortunately the photos there were totally foggy. However, this mountain allowed incredible photos, worthy of a movie, with its atmosphere full of trees, fog, rocks and rivers.
